I am an out-of-network provider which means I do not accept insurance.

In some cases, you may be eligible to use out-of-network insurance benefits. I can provide an invoice of our session that you can submit to your insurance provider. It is your responsibility to research what out-of-network benefits you may have and whether you will receive any reimbursement.

I accept credit/debit card payment (including an FSA or HSA card). You will be responsible for paying for each session in full at the end of the appointment.

If you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance company will typically reimburse you for 60-80% of the cost of each session after you’ve met your deductible.

I’d be happy to check your benefits for you! Just make sure to have your insurance card handy, with your Member ID, during our free intro call.

Or if you prefer, you can confirm the benefits of your health insurance plan, with your insurance provider directly. Just call the number on the back of your health insurance card listed under Member Services.

You can ask them the following questions:

• Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage? Am I able to use these benefits for telehealth?

• What is my out-of-network deductible?

• How much of my deductible has been met this year?

• Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see someone out-of-network?

• What percentage of outpatient psychotherapy sessions are covered per session?

• How much will I be reimbursed for a 60-minute psychotherapy session (CPT code: 90837)?

• How do I submit claim forms for reimbursement?

• How long does it take for me to receive reimbursement?

Your out-of-network benefits are usually pretty straightforward to use. We have two options:

• I work with a company, Thrizer, who can submit claims to your insurance company on your behalf for a small fee. After you’ve met your deductible, you can decide whether or not you want to pay for the session in full and receive reimbursement from your insurance company via direct deposit. Or you can simply pay your co-insurance and Thrizer can cover the rest of the cost for you, while they wait for reimbursement from your insurance company.

• Or if you prefer to deal with your insurance company yourself, I will provide you with a monthly superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. You will be responsible for paying for each session in full at time of appointment. ​

We can discuss these options in more detail on an intro call and see what works best for you!

I offer a free 20-minute consultation call where we talk about what your goals for trauma therapy are. We also talk about my approach as a therapist, rates, insurance, and availability. You can ask any questions I didn't answer in that time as well.

If we both decide we are a good fit, we'll schedule the intake appointment. I'll make sure to send you a few forms to complete online before that appointment.

During the intake appointment, I'll ask questions to get to know you better as well as assess the trauma symptoms you are experiencing. I will give feedback and treatment recommendations at the end of the session.

From there, I typically meet with clients on a weekly basis and an episode of trauma focused care is around 3 to 4 months.

Virtually only. I am able to work with clients located in any PSYPACT state (click the link to see if your state is included).

I use a secure video platform through SimplePractice. You’ll have your own private client portal with a login and password where you can complete paperwork, send messages, and join your appointments.

The video format feels similar to FaceTime or Zoom, but it’s HIPAA compliant and built specifically for healthcare, which means your privacy is protected.

I do not only work with men. Although I am specialized in men's mental health, I also see clients who identify as women, trans, and gender diverse/non-binary. The most important thing is that you think I am a good fit for your therapy needs!

What I will talk with you about during our first appointment is which treatment best maps onto your most prominent symptoms and how you think. You will get the best outcomes when we choose a treatment that not only addresses your symptoms but plays to the strengths you already have.
